Safer Churches to protect children
November 2015 -

The Australian Christian Churches is committed to continuing to create even safer places for children and young people, with every local church aware of their responsibilities towards protecting children.

The Australian Christian Churches has actively addressed many of the points that emerged at the Royal Commission hearing in October 2014, and will continue to do so to build a stronger culture of transparency and accountability when it comes to creating a safe environment for children and youth.

Steps already taken include the ACC Child Protection Policy, that was adopted by the National Conference in April 2015, which is binding on all ACC credential holders and constituent churches to ensure children or young people are protected from harm.

The ACC continues to provide support to our churches with regard to the outworking of child protection procedures across the country through the Safer Churches Strategy, which includes a wide range of resources and materials, including training for all full-time and volunteer workers with children and young people.
