In the lead up to the Australian Federal election on Saturday, 18 May 2019, the ACC has committed to join other Christian leaders and denominations to pray and fast for 21 days in the lead up to this significant election. It’s not about praying for earthly kingdoms or political parties to prevail, but that His will be done as we pray according to the Word of God.

Proverbs 14:34 declares that ‘Righteousness exalts a nation’ so let’s prepare our hearts to pray for the future of Australia, and start to pray from today that His kingdom will come and His will be done here in our nation.

What can we specifically pray for leading up to the election? Christians from all denominations will be praying:

• that God will rule over this election, that the righteous are in authority in our nation. (Proverbs 29:2)

• for the members of Parliament and all the election candidates and their families standing in this Federal election. (1 Timothy 2:1-3)

• that we have unity across the Body of Christ in Australia, that believers will rise up our nation and respond in prayer. (Ephesians 5:14)

• for a spiritual awakening across our land, that the Gospel will be preached and bring transformation in the lives of all those who call Australia home. (John 3:16)
