A LETTER TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY OF AUSTRALIA

On behalf of everyone across the Australian Christian Church family, we are standing with our Jewish community here in Australia and worldwide, following the horrific shootings at Bondi Beach on Sunday. You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers in this dark and heartbreaking time in our nation.

The ACC wholeheartedly supports our Jewish friends as we stand against the hatred and violence of this evil act of terrorism, which is a deplorable act signifying the escalation of antisemitism in our country.

This shocking act of aggression comes at a time when peace-loving faith communities like the Jewish community are celebrating the start of Hanukah and as Christians are preparing for Christmas. It reinforces our commitment to build a unified society of respect and value, for people of all faiths to worship freely and safely.

We pray for God’s peace and healing for families who have lost loved ones and for those who are injured and traumatised by this senseless killing of innocent people.
