EASTER MESSAGE 2011

GOD'S RESPONSE TO OUR GREATEST NEED

In the blink of an eye, everything can change.

Since the start of 2011, a constant barrage of natural disasters, which included earthquakes, fires, floods and cyclones, affected so many lives. Headlines of human suffering filled the media for many weeks. The intensity of these events was something that many of us have never experienced before. We were all moved in some way especially as it was so ‘close to home’. Some people’s lives were changed forever; while others, though not physically affected, have been left with unanswered questions, fear and insecurity about the future.

Through this heartache, good people went to great lengths to comfort and assist others in their time of need. Yet God has gone to even greater lengths. As we arrive at this season, it is a good time to remind ourselves of the reality of the Easter story – that God responded to the greatest human need by giving us His greatest gift, His Son Jesus.

There is great comfort to be found in the Easter message. Through His death on the Cross, we can find life where our past is forgiven and our future assured by the hope of the Resurrection. We gain such confidence through the declaration, “He is not here but is risen” (Luke 24:6).

Nature can be so magnificent, but has caused much anxiety in recent times. People can be so compassionate, yet have their limitations. So let’s turn our attention to the Divine this Easter, where we can discover again the ultimate expression of life-changing love found in the person of Jesus. That love is pure and is a great antidote to the weight of fear and disappointment.

Our prayer is that you would discover the reality of this truth this Easter.
